REVERSING CAMERAS
How do they work? The camera activates automatically, interfacing with your vehicle's existing reversing systems. Simply by engaging reverse gear, the system will activate the dash-mounted screen, receiving the wireless 150 degree wide angle mirror image view of the area immediately behind your vehicle. The display may have optional guide lines to assist in maneuvering.
What do they look like? Outside, there will be a small discreet camera, normally mounted just above your rear number plate, but can be mounted to suit your or your vehicle's requirements. Inside, a 5-7" screen similar to a portable Sat Nav (see image above) will be mounted on your dashboard or windscreen so as not to interfere with your normal driving view.
Parking Sensors
How do they work? Your parking sensors will activate automatically. Simply by engaging reverse, the system will beep once to let you know the reversing aid is activated. If you have front parking sensors installed and moving at less than 6 miles per hour, the system will be active regardless of the direction of travel. With either system, as you slowly approach an object, you will hear a series of beeps from behind or in front of you. The closer you are to an object, the faster the beeps. When the object is within 12", you will hear one long continuous beep and you should stop maneuvering.
What do they look like? Outside, you will have 4 sensors mounted within your rear/front bumper. Each sensor is 18mm and discreetly coloured. Inside, the beepers can be concealed in the vehicle.

Why should I get them? Sensors and cameras are now being fitted as standard to most high specification cars or as an expensive optional extra. Some cars only have cameras which can have blind spots on the corners. With most car insurance excesses starting around £250, the systems can pay for themselves the first time they save you from a bump or scrape.
Do they require any maintenance or servicing? Clean the sensors or cameras as you would the rest of the bodywork of the car. An excess of dirt, mud, snow or rain can reduce the effectiveness of sensors and visibilty of cameras.
Are there any limitations? As with all parking assistance aids, these are not to be solely relied upon when maneuvering. As such, Chamois Shine or the manufacturer of the system cannot be held liable for any damage caused to any vehicle, property or persons in the unlikely event of their failure.
